Brief information about the project:

As is well known, many foreign countries use alternative dispute resolution methods to resolve conflicts more effectively. One of the alternative ways of resolving such disputes out of court is mediation. Through mediation, a third party acts as a mediator to help two or more parties discuss and reach an agreement to resolve the conflict. Mediation is used to resolve disputes in a variety of areas, including legal, diplomatic, workplace, community, and family matters.

In order to develop the values of mediation in society of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ganja State University has joined the European Commission’s Erasmus + program’s “Training and Society Transformation” – MEDIATS project as a partner. The aim of the project is to make universities a leading force in the field of mediation and to improve the objective resolution of conflicts using the European experience in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine.

The project has the following specific objectives:

  1. To prepare and apply a master’s degree in mediation;
  2. Establish a Mediation Federation;
  3. To develop the values of mediation in the society in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine.

The project aims to train experienced mediators. To this end, project participants will study best European practices, select and train staff, and develop a master’s program in mediation. The Mediation Federation will be established to disseminate the values of mediation, propose changes in legislation, and establish contacts between different parties such as ministries and courts.

 Project goals:

Creating a master’s program (creating a master’s program related to mediation);

Training of specialized personnel (to ensure that professionals with experience in the field of mediation are able to resolve conflicts before the court);

Creating a Mediation Federation (to form mediation policy and values in the Azerbaijani society).
